A ‘firefighting machine’ has saved the lives of at least three people after a fire broke out in a suburban home.
The fire broke in a home in Melbourne’s south-west and forced residents to flee.
One of the fire fighters, whose name has not been released, was able to get into the house through a kitchen window and fight the blaze without being caught.
He later returned to his squad car to help tackle another blaze and was able escape unharmed.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was treated for smoke inhalation and later discharged.
Firefighters are now searching for more victims.
