Learn how to use a firearm and firefight in the military, according to a military veteran who teaches military firefighters what it takes to become a professional.
“You’re gonna need to have some good leadership, you’re gonna have to have the mindset of, ‘If I can do it, then so can you,'” said Jason Mazzola, who has been a military firefighter for the past seven years.
Mazzola has been teaching military firefighters since 2015 and is one of the few military instructors to teach them how to operate a firearm safely and effectively.
“It’s an incredibly complex job,” he said.
“You have to be able to see where the danger is and know what’s right for the job.
There’s a lot of rules and regulations.”
Mazzia, an Army veteran, said military firefighters are trained to do multiple things in the field, including fighting fires and responding to disasters.
“Most of the time, you have to fight in a situation where you don’t know what you’re going to see or what’s going to happen next,” he explained.
“And there are a lot things you have no idea what’s gonna happen.
That’s the job of a military firefighter.”
Moustafa Ibrahim, a firefighter who was part of the United Arab Emirates air force during the 2011 terrorist attacks, said that while military firefighters can have a good job, they can be “dangerous.”
“You can’t be reckless, and you can’t have a whole lot of self-destructive thoughts and things,” he told NBC News.
“So you have a lot to learn, a lot that can be learned.”
He added that military firefighters often have to put their lives on the line to keep people safe, which is why he and other veterans advocate for more regulations in the firefighting industry.
“I think a lot more people in the community, especially people that have served in the past, have an interest in understanding how things work and how they can help, but they don’t understand how they work,” he added.
