The Atari 2600 home computer was released in the late 1980s, but the gaming platform has been dormant for nearly two decades.
Atari has recently announced that it will be releasing a new video game, Fire Fighter, on May 30.
The Fire Fighter game was developed by Atari’s Digital Entertainment division.
It will feature “a new take on the classic Fire fighter from the original Atari 2600,” according to a press release.
The game will also feature a “massive fire fighting mechanic” that will be “an entirely new approach to fire fighting in Fire Fighter.”
Fire Fighter is the first video game released by Atari since the company sold off all its video game assets to SoftBank and the Tokyo-based SEGA, in 2008.
The deal was a big blow for Atari, which had been a major player in video game development, and is now focused on its online service.
