An ethylene-based firefighting pipe caught fire during a fire fight in Nevada’s western Nevada hills, officials said on Thursday.
The Nevada State Fire Marshal said in a news release that a portable gas-powered device ignited on Friday morning after it was used to fight a fire in the foothills of the San Juan Mountains near Yuma, Nevada.
The device was recovered, and a preliminary investigation indicated it was likely an ethylene gas-fired device, the Nevada Fire Marshal’s Office said.
Firefighters battled the blaze for three hours.
The fire was contained to a house in the San Joaquin Valley, the fire marshal said.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
